SUSTAINABILITY

ABOUT

Sustainable seafood is seafood either from fished or farmed sources that can maintain or increase production in the future without jeopardizing the ecosystems from which it was acquired. Sea Delight Group understands the importance of supporting fishing practices which help maintain and increase the species’ ability to maintain its population.

We believe in sustainable seas, and changing business models to help protect our planet’s most valuable natural resource, our ocean. Sea Delight Group is committed to supporting sustainable fisheries by sourcing our products from over 17 Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPS), creating a public company-wide sustainability policy and committing to assess our seafood purchases through sustainability ratings such as Seafood Watch and credible eco-certifications like the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

Sea Delight focuses on environmentally sound, sustainably sourced seafood. Our journey towards sustainable seafood began in 2009, when we began working with WWF Indonesia to support the development of a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for Snapper, Grouper and Tuna. Since then, Sea Delight representatives have participated on multiple high-level panel discussions concerning seafood sustainability topics at Seafood Expo North America and SeaWeb Seafood Summit. We also attend multiple supplier roundtables organized by the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), and have also joined the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability.

We also support fisheryprogress.org a one-stop shop for reliable information about fishery improvement project progress. We work with our suppliers and FIP partners to enter the information about the FIPs we support on this site in order to improve transparency and be able to track progress.

We continue to add profitable, high quality lines of products that exceed the expectations of consumers worldwide and inspire all to participate in global conservation and sustainability efforts.

SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD POLICY

Sea Delight Group is committed to ensuring seafood remains a secure resource for future generations to enjoy. We use our buying power and position in the seafood industry to employ and promote responsible practices globally. Our own principles, including strategic sourcing and research, leverage positive change in our suppliers and customers.

Our informed choices are strengthened by establishing transparency in our supply chains and collecting data so we can eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) seafood from our supply. We educate our employees, suppliers, and customers with this information to create a more conscious industry.

We extend our commitment beyond our own practices and across commercial, governmental, and civil sectors. We engage in advocacy, education, and direct investment through the funding of and participation in fishery improvement projects (FIPS). These FIPs improve the environmental, economic, and social aspects of fisheries and communities across the world.

Our SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD POLICY is the foundation for our future business and will send a ripple of positive change through the seafood industry.
